Rolled out of bed this morning sometime between 7:30 and 7:45 and jumped in the shower. Spent 10 minutes trying to unravel the enigma that had become my winter wardrobe, before deciding to get technology savvy… checked the weather on my gorgeous new Samsung Genio Touch  (a gift from the wonderful people at the Vodafone Foundation)… miserable as always!
Decided to be practical so I threw on my trusty grey Levis 571’s, (which will hereby be known as the only pair of jeans to fit me after the festive season!) a pale grey cashmere poloneck, a dark grey cotton cardigan, and my bronze leather uggs. Hair is especially scary this morning but somehow manage to work it into a chic braid a la Alexander Wang SS10, grab my coat and bag run out the door in a cloud of Marc Jacobs.
On the tube I notice an interesting new trend… suits and wellies, seems I’m not the only one taking the practical approach
!
Arrive at the Canon Collins Trust pumped and ready to change the world. The team has welcomed me into their inner circle… which I think might be partially thanks to the biscotti I brought them from my New Years trip to Italy.   After we get the health and safety aspects out of the way ( exits are located in the front and rear of the vehicle!) I have a meeting with Esther our lovely Special Projects and Fundraising Manager to dicuss my project for the next two months.
For those who don’t already know the Canon Collins Trust is an educational trust that provides bursaries for underpriviliged scholars from the southern African region to pursue post graduate study. Canon Collins Trust is committed to building human resources necessary for economic, social and cultural development in southern Africa. We believe that education will be the catalyst that transforms Africa into one of the worlds leading economies.
Although the majority of development charities support children in their right to basic education, having experts who can improve the medical, educational, agricultural , electoral and communications systems of African is just as (if not more so) important as these are the people that will create the policies that influence the lives of so many.Â
What I will be working on for next two months is creating a profile library of past scholars which can be shared with companies in order to provide a strong demonstration of what can be achieved by inspiring individuals.
Its going to be hard work but I’m sure I can rise to the challenge … I swear on my favourite pair of choos
!
