I can’t believe how fast the last couple of months have gone!

My colleague Sarah and I have been doing creative workshops with young refugees and asylum seekers in London and Manchester and have been able to join in with photography, graffiti, and drama as well.

This evening, we will be exhibiting photos and art creating by young people in Croydon at a youth club. We will be playing a giant graffiti board game that the young people made over the Easter holiday. It involves young moving around the board and answering questions about their experiences of living in Croydon and is a fun way for us to find out more about what additional services and support they would like to see in their local area.

We’re really looking forward to it!

Post | Lots of fun in the sun!

I’ve been so busy running activities with young refugees over the last couple of weeks that I’ve barely had time to think, let alone blog!

In Croydon, my colleague and fellow world of difference winner Sarah and I organised photography, drama, and graffiti workshops. We also squeezed in a trip to the theatre to see Stomp – exciting, noisy and a great activity for people new to English.

Last week, I was up in Manchester supporting young refugees living in Manchester to make a film about their experiences in long-term camps in Nepal and finding out more about British culture. We watched the royal wedding and danced at some street parties. I can’t wait to do more filming with the young people this weekend!

Post | My First Week!

It’s been a great week finally getting to work full time for the charity I co-founded over six years ago!!

I’ve been up to Manchester to plan a filmmaking project, where we met lots of people who are going to help us out with free venues, cameras, edit suites and volunteering. I’m looking forward to our first sessions with young refugees this weekend.

Setting up creative activities for young refugees in Croydon is also proving fun with exciting plans afoot for graffiti, games, photos and theatre trips!

We can’t wait to meet the young people over the next couple of weeks…..
