They have been unable to update everyone because of the conditions and have been without a signal. The team have forwarded more pictures, which I will update soon!! So watch this space!
WELL DONE LADS!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!
DAY 3 UPDATE!!!
Just thought I’d let you know, that after not having any contact from the lads since yesterday afternoon, I was slightly worried so have been phoning round checking that all is well! After leaving many messages and contacting a few folks, I was informed that they had been struggling with a large incline this afternoon, but that all was well and good and they had made contact later in the day and were all sinking a pint and having a meal late this afternoon! No change there then
lol
I will let you know more, once I am updated! Maria x.

DAY 2 UPDATE!!
Just received an update from Mike!
After the trials of yesterday we decided to start out a little later from Fort William climbing Neptunes Stair case and along the Caledonian canal. The conditions under foot were a little damp and we were hindered by snow at some points. Along the canal tow path Mike had the misfortune of getting a puncture which further hampered our progress. Withthe wind against us we plodded on until Loch Lochy where conditions improved. We started eat up some miles and saw some fantastic views of the loch and rode through some great forest fire tracks making down hill decents of about 30 miles an hour made more treacherous by the ice. Crossing the canal at Laggan we started to look for somewhere to stay and found ourselves traveling along a snowy track until we came to The Great Glen hostel which met our needs perfectly we are now off for something to eat so more later. thanks from Mike.
Keep Safe Everyone!! Nice to know your settled for the night! Fantastic stuff you are doing for PASIC! I wish I was there!! Sounds cold but amazing!!! Maria x.

THE HIGHLAND MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE UPDATE! DAY 2: From Andy

As soon as Nathan and Bear stop fiddling with their bikes we’ll be on our way!
2nd Update today!

We set off at 8:30 from Fort William Police Station. The weather was clear andfresh temp around 4 degrees. We start out heading for our first marker The Corran Ferry over to Ardgour. The ferry was 8 miles from the starting point and we travelled solely on the main road.
After the crossing which took 4 minutes, we travelled south west on the road to Sunnart (pictures to follow). The route took us on the road alongside Loche Sheil where we climbed several hills during the 16 mile leg.
On arrival at Sunnart we stopped for a brew and discussed the ongoing journey. Weather was still clear andfresh witha tail wind which helped a lot.
We then set off to Polloch over the mountains which meant a gruelling 1 and a half hour climb to 300 metres. This took a lot out of the team and did require us to walk at some points due to the steepness of the route ( pictures in 3rd mail). We arrived at the summit to be faced with 10 ft snow drifts which we thought had been completely cleared but we were wrong, they had another 2 miles worth of clearing to do. Faced with this lunch was called! We decided after lunch that we couldn’t wait and we wouldn’t turn back so to the amazement of the road clearance team we walked past into the now 4 foot snow. With a very steep decent we soldiered through the 2 miles of of snow to be confronted with frozen wheel tracks and finally we could start riding again. Andy got a bit excited by the prospect and decked the bike twice, the first time hitting the safety barriers with his pack. Everyone was going cautiously at this stage and once through the worst of it we started getting even more miles under the belt. Although the climb and snow had taken it’s toll!
We worked through the unforgiving forest and trails well until we hit the path closest to another very large loche. The windpicked up, the weather was turning, with this in mind we worked really hard until we realised we had a further 16 miles to cover. This took it out of us and you could see the team cracking and struggling in stages. This by the waywas the part if the ride we were supposed to do tomorrow but because of the efforts of the team we got back to Fort William under darkness.
We have all said that the latter part of the day was the worst conditions any of us had worked through and the look on everyone’s faces when we finished was amazing. Although the views we saw today were spectacular we all feeling it!!
Thanks,
