Location: Stevenage | Charity Harmony Coaching and Mentoring Avenues (HCMA)

I'm so pleased to have been selected to participate in the programme and work with HCMA. The work HCMA do to help disadvantaged, socially excluded and unemployed people who are experiencing difficulty with life management is amazing and I feel privileged to be a part of the charity.

Post | Coaching and Mentoing

We have been working hard to train our volunteers to become coaches and mentors and we have received their Achievement Certificates from the Institute of Leadership and Management, which is a fantastic accomplishment for the delegates. Stevenage Mayor, Cllr Michael Downing, will be presenting the Certificates to our ILM Coaching and Mentoring delegates which is great recognition of the importance of the work we do. To publicise this we will be arranging for the local newspaper to run an article on this. What a fantastic way to end my two months!

Post | Social Enterprise – Sales and Marketing Course

I can’t believe time is going so quickly! I have been learning so much about how to help make a Charity sustainable, with the cuts in funding we really need to think about alternatives. We have a Social Enterprise arm that will help fund the Charity, the work we do is so important we need to raise the funds so we can help the people who need it the most. We are running Sales & Marketing Course that is developed an advanced training course for Social Enterprise staff in charge of income generation.  Its a great course that will really help move Charities forward, staff can develop skills needed to increase their revenue t help make their charity sustainability. Post | Elstree Studios

I attend a talk at Elstree Studios as part of my work with HCMA. Was talking to some amazing people that have really turned their lives around.  People that have been in a dark place, feeling like they had no future and that are now working or studying and are volunteering in the local community.  The courses that have been on with HCMA through Take Part, the Community Empowerment programme funded by Department for Communities and Local Government has really helped them move on with their lives.   When I met people like this it really reminds me that with the right help we can all achieve great things.  This is what it is all about for me, meeting the people we have helped and making our services more accessible to the need our help.  Visit HCMA’s website for more details of what we do. www.hcma.me.uk

Post | 3 Weeks Already!!

I can’t believe I have been working for HCMA for three weeks – the time has flown! I have been so busy promoting the work that HCMA do – I have been attending local council meetings discussing what we do, I have met with the people that HCMA have helped in the past and I am starting a project to record their stories. I have also helped design some accredited courses that are being delivered. I am helping client with preparation for work and I have started looking at our volunteer matching. Visit www.hcma.me.uk to see what else we are up to.
